PENGUINS OF THE WORLD
 

There are six penguins belonging to the Eudyptes genus.
These are characterised by the shaggy yellow crest.

ROYAL PENGUIN
(Eudyptes schegeli)

One of a set of two stamps illustrating
 seabirds, issued by F.S.A.T in 1980.

The Royal Penguin only nests on Macquarie Island
and adjacent islets, south of New Zealand.
Their nests are built in holes on the ground,
 surrounded by grass and stones.

It is about 75 cms tall and weighs about 4,5 kgs.
 It is estimated that there are about 85 000 Royal Penguins.
