One of a set of two stamps illustrating
seabirds, issued by F.S.A.T in 1980.
The Royal Penguin only nests on Macquarie Island
and adjacent islets, south of New Zealand.
Their nests are built in holes on the ground,
surrounded by grass and stones.

the left as part of a set of five stamps in 1882,
and the right as a part of eight stamps in 1992.
It is about 75 cms tall and weighs about 4,5 kgs.
It is estimated that there are about 85 000 Royal Penguins.
