PENGUINS OF THE WORLD
 

Two genera are represented by a single species only,
 these are the Megadytes and Eudyptula,
 neither of which are found in Southern Africa

YELLOW-EYED PENGUIN
(Megadyptes antipodes)

One of the set of twelve penguin stamps issued
jointly by New Zealand and Ross Dependency in 2001

Yellow-eyed Penguins are found on the east coast of South Island
 and on sub-Antarctic islands south of New Zealand,
 notably Enderby Island in the Auckland Island.
This penguin is vulnerable with an estimated 1500 breeding pairs.
