A large bird (80 cm to 95 cm) found in the southern oceans. It breeds on many sub Antarctic oceans. A common non breeding visitor to SA waters, it is the commonest albatross found off the south western cape. Lives off krill, fish, squid and gathers in large numbers (up to 1000 birds) to feed on fish behind trawlers.
