Rare Vagrant  
A large bird (60 cm), breeding in North America and wintering along the Mexican Gulf coast and further south to Peru. Increasing number of records are being noted in the southern Atlantic.  It is a very rare vagrant to South Africa, with a single juvenile being identified on the west coast on the Cape Peninsula.
