| A huge bird (about 117 cm) mainly found in eastern tropical Africa (Sudan to Zaire and Zambia). A rare vagrant to SA, only recorded in the Okavango Delta (dubious record). It inhabits large swamps with reeds and lives off African lungfish, and other aquatic creatures. | |
