| A
very large bird (about 140cm), locally abundant in whole of Southern
Africa. Also East Africa, Mediterranean and West Coast of Africa. It is
also found in the America's and Southern Eurasia. It lives in large
bodies of shallow water in huge flocks (could be up to millions). It
lives off small aquatic vertebrates and algae. The nest is a hollow topped cone of mud. |
