| A very large bird (about 100cm), common in Southern Africa except in the dry west, and throughout Africa south of the Sahara. Its normal habitat is larger inland waters and dams and it generally eats grass shoots, grain and other crops. Its nest is normally a grass lined hollow on the ground. | |
