| A medium sized duck (about 45cm) found throughout South Africa and north to Angola, East Africa, Sudan and Chad. It is found on shallow inland vleis, pans and lagoons and lives off insects, tadpoles and crustaceans. The nest is a grasslined hollow concealed in dense vegetation. | |
