| A medium sized duck (51 cm to 63 cm) found in southern, central and east Africa. In southern Africa it is a very common resident throughout except for the drier west areas. It inhabits dams, pans and marshes and is generally gregarious except when breeding. Its main food source is plant material but it also eats insects. | |
