| A small duck (about 35cm), an uncommon to locally common resident of South and East Africa, Nigeria and Madagascar. It inhabits quiet inland waters, vleis and marshes and lives off seeds, crustaceans, insects and molluscs. Its nest is a hollow in a clump of vegetation, usually concealed by pulling down adjacent stems. | |
