A medium to large bird (55 cm), previously considered a spp of the Black Kite. It is a common breeding migrant found over most of southern Africa, returning to Equatorial Africa for the winter. It inhabits woodland and semi-arid savanna and is a highly maneuverable bird. It eats almost anything including carrion.
