| A largish bird (55 cm to 70 cm) found in most of Africa south of the Sahara, Arabia and Iraq. In southern Africa it is a common resident in the northern parts of the region, generally found in game reserves. It has a very short tail and is called a Stompstertarend (Short-tailed Eagle) in Afrikaans. It eats mammals, birds, reptiles and fish. | |
