A fairly large bird (60 cm to 66 cm) found in Africa south of the Sahara. In southern Africa it is a locally common resident which is absent from the drier western parts. It is usually solitary and is found in forests, denser woodland and wooded kloofs. The main food source is reptiles, small birds and nestlings.
