A small bird (28 cm to 36 cm) found in Africa south of the Sahara and southern Arabia. In southern Africa it is a common resident only absent from the south western Cape. It is found in forests (from riverine to arid savannah). The main food source is small birds up to the size of thrushes, but also small mammals and reptiles
