A medium bird (33 cm to 40 cm) found discontinuously in Africa from S Africa to Ethiopia. In southern Africa it is an uncommon resident found in the south and east. Found in montane forest/grassland, wooded kloofs and exotic plantations and lives off birds up to the size of small doves.
