A smallish stocky bird (30 to 33 cm) found in Africa from Senegal to northern Namibia. It is a rare resident in the region, being at the extreme edge of its range. It is a shy solitary bird inhabiting savannah, woodlands and forest clearing. The main diet is insects, lizards, frogs and small mammals.
