.A smallish bird (30 to 36 cm) found in Africa south of the Sahara and in India. In southern Africa it is a rare resident found in the drier west and extreme north east. Its habitat is savannah and riverine woodland and is generally a solitary bird. Its main prey is birds which it hunts in flight.
