A very large bird (about 120 cm) found in Africa from South Africa to Somalia. In southern Africa it is an uncommon resident found in the north and east. It inhabits highland marshes, vleis, moist grasslands and seasonal flood plains.  It is usually found in pairs or small flocks. Its main diet is small reptiles, frogs and insects.
