| A small to medium bird (22 cm to 24 cm) which breeds in Eurasia and migrates to Africa, Southern Europe and India. In southern Africa it is an uncommon migrant found in the northern and north eastern parts. It is a solitary bird which inhabits marshes, vleis and flooded grasslands. Its main diet is aquatic invertebrates and plants. | |
