NORTHERN BLACK KORHAAN

(Eupodotis afraoides or Eupodotis afra [afraoides])

Also known as  Black Bustard or White-quilled Bustard
(Previously considered a sub-species of R239 Black Korhaan
now Southern Black Korhaan)

A medium to large bird (52 cm), found in the western parts of South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. It is a very common resident of open dry grassland. It was previously considered the Black Korhaan (R239). It is usually solitary, with the male conspicuous on termite mounds. It eats plants and insects.
