Rare Vagrant
A medium bird (26 cm), a rare vagrant from the Nearctic. It breeds in the Canadian and Alaskan tundra. Previously considered the Lesser Golden Plover, together with the Pacific Golden Plover (R253), there are six records of this bird in southern Africa. It inhabits open coast.
