A small bird (about 18 cm) found in Africa south of the Sahara and Madagascar. In southern Africa it is a common resident mainly found along the coast, but also on the bigger rivers. It is usually found in pairs, and in large flocks when not breeding. The main food source is insects, and also crustaceans, worms and mollusks.
