| A medium bird (about 28 cm) found in Africa from Ethiopia and Angola south. In southern Africa it is a locally common resident absent from the drier west. It inhabits vleis, marshes, flooded grasslands and marshy dams, living off insects, worms, crustaceans and molluscs. | |
