| The largest wader in southern Africa (53 to 59 cm), breeding in Europe and Central Asia, and migrating to the Mediterranean, Africa and southern Asia. In southern Africa it is and uncommon migrant mostly found along the coast. It inhabits the seashore and tidal mudflats, and lives off mollusks, crabs and insects. | |
