Rare Vagrant
A small bird (18 to 19 cm), breeding in the Northern Hemisphere. It migrates to southern Europe, Africa and Asia. In southern Africa it is a very rare straggler. It inhabits tidal mudflats, inland pans and marshes. In s Africa it is solitary, but elsewhere it is gregarious. It lives off molluscs, crustaceans, worms and insects.
