| A medium bird (30-31 cm) which breeds in northern Europe and Asia, migrating to Africa, southern Asia and Australia. It is a very common widespread migrant in southern Africa and inhabits estuaries and most inland waters. It is a gregarious bird, feeding on mollusks, crustaceans, insects, worms and berries. | |
