A large bird (61 to 66 cm), breeding in the Sub-antarctic islands and migrating northwards to the tropical and temperate seas. It is found off the western and south eastern coasts of southern Africa. It is an uncommon migrant to these waters. It is highly aggressive and attacks other birds which then regurgitate the fish.
