and sub-species of  Herring Gull (Larus argentatus [heuglini]) by Howard & Moore

Rare but regular vagrant  

 

 

 

 

A large bird (about 60 cm), breeding in the northern palearctic, and migrating to Black Sea south to east Africa. In southern Africa it is a rare but regular vagrant to the east coast as far south as the eastern Cape. It inhabits coastal and inland waters and feeds off offal, scraps and dead fish
