| A medium sized bird (36 to 41 cm), which breeds along the coasts of the Mediterranean, Red Sea, southern Asia and Australia. It is a common non breeding migrant to the eastern coast of Southern Africa. It inhabits estuaries and off shore waters and lives off fish and crustaceans. | |
