| A small bird (20 to 28 cm), which breeds in the southern Holarctic, migrating north or south after breeding. In southern Africa it is a fairly common non breeding migrant, found mainly on the eastern coast. It inhabits estuaries and coastal lagoons, and eats small fish, crustaceans and insects. | |
