| A small bird (23 to 24 cm), breeding in the temperate Holarctic and migrating to the southern hemisphere. It is a common non-breeding migrant to the Namibian coast, but an uncommon vagrant elsewhere. It inhabits the open ocean, quiet coastal waters and inland lakes, and lives off insects and offal. | |
