A smallish parrot (22 to 24 cm), found in southern and eastern Africa. In southern Africa, it is a common resident, confined to the extreme east as far south as Zululand. It inhabits woodland and riverine forest and is gregarious in small flocks up to 50 birds. It lives off fruit, nuts, grain and flowers
