A largish bird (45-47 cm), previously considered a race of the Knysna Lourie (Turaco), (R370). It is a common resident of the eastern parts Africa, found as far south as KwaZulu Natal. It is normally solitary, and inhabits riverine and coastal forests. It eats fruit and insects.
