A medium bird ( about 36 cm), found in Africa from Transvaal to Zaire and Sudan. In southern Africa it is an uncommon resident or local migrant found in Mozambique and other localised areas. It is usually solitary and inhabits woodland and bushveld. It mostly eats grasshoppers.
