A large bird ( 44 to 50 cm), found in northern Botswana, Caprivi, Angola, Zambia, Zaire and Tanzania. In southern Africa it is a fairly common resident, inhabiting swamps with reeds. It is shy and usually solitary and feeds off large insects, snails and small birds
