A medium bird (38-44 cm), previously considered a race of Burchell's Coucal (R391). It is found in Africa south of the Sahara, and is a common resident in the extreme northern parts of the region. It in normally solitary and inhabits riverine and coastal bush. It eats insects and small frogs.
The distribution map is for Burchell's Coucal and the White-browed Coucal.  The extreme northern parts of Zimbabwe are home to the White-browed Coucal
