| A very large bird (58 to 65 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. In southern Africa it is a fairly common resident found north of the Orange River and Zululand. It is a solitary bird, mostly nocturnal, inhabiting woodland, savanna and tree lined water courses. It eats mammals (monkeys and hedgehogs) and birds (up to Secretary Birds). | |
