A medium bird (23 to 25 cm), found in most of Africa south of the Sahara. In southern Africa it is a common partial migrant absent from the drier west. It inhabits dense woodland, plantations and gardens and is usually solitary or in pairs. It eats insects (beetles) and spiders.
