AFRICAN BLACK SWIFT

Also known as African Swift or Black Swift

(Apus barbatus)

A medium bird (18 to 19 cm), found in much of Africa south of the Sahara, the Comoros and Madagascar. It is a very common breeding intra African migrant found throughout southern Africa, especially the moister parts. It is highly gregarious and inhabits open country near mountains and cliffs. It eats aerial arthropods.
