| The largest southern African kingfisher (43 to 46 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. In southern Africa it is a locally common resident, absent from the drier west. It is usually solitary and inhabits rivers, estuaries and lakes. It lives off fish, crabs and frogs. | |
