NORTHERN GREY-HEADED SPARROW

  The Northern Grey-headed Sparrow consists of the three sub-species
 found in Sub-Saharan Africa, south to Kenya.
 The Southern Grey-headed Sparrow consists
 of the sub-species found from Tanzania to South Africa.

A medium bird (15-16 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. (see above for split in distribution).  The Southern G-H Sparrow is a fairly common resident throughout the region, except for the western areas. The Northern G-H Sparrow is common in its range, with reports in the extreme north of Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia.  It inhabits acacia savanna, and is usually solitary. It eats seeds and insects.
