A very small bird (10 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. It is a widespread and common resident in southern Africa, from the central areas to the north east. It inhabits rank grass and thickets and is usually found in pairs. It eats seeds and insects and is the host to the Steel-blue Widowfinch.
