A small bird (11-12 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. It is a common resident of the eastern parts of the region from PE through Natal to Mocambique and eastern Zimbabwe. It inhabits rank grass and is usually in pairs, eating seeds and insects. It is host to the Black Widowfinch.
