A medium bird (14,5-16 cm), found in Africa south of the Sahara. It is a fairly common resident of the southern and eastern parts of southern Africa, excluding Mocambique. It inhabits savannah and open woodland and is usually solitary or in pairs. It eats seeds, berries, flowers and nectar.
